My mission is to help you find the best product for your situation

How I go about testing products.

1) I select the top products in each category.
2) I put the products through detailed side-by-side tests, in the field, and score each product across a range of weighted categories.
3) I rank the products, explain why, and give awards to the best.
I have tested boots from Lowa and Altberg in the Welsh Mountains to see how they performed day after day slogging across wet and muddy trails, crossing slippery scree and scrambling up those hills.
I test daysacks, stoves, multi tools, sleeping bags and tents from Blackhawk, Bulldog tactical , camelback, Jetboil, MSR, Biolite, Gerber, Leatherman and Snugpak.
In addition, I put each product through a set of real world field tests where I use and abuse each product to see how it holds up. I am an avid climber, hiker, trail runner, and backpacker. I have an eye for detail and an obsession to find the best. I have years of hands-on experience and backcountry wisdom to the reviews.
In the end, my mission is to help you find the best product for your situation, keeping in mind that each person’s needs are unique. To achieve that goal I publish the scores of each product relative to its competition, both overall and across important attributes for each category. That means you can find the one that best meets your individual needs.
